Pinterest pilot

For BuildForge Collected Views and the private BuildForge Taste Pilot

Scope

This section applies to BuildForge Collected Views and the private BuildForge Taste Pilot.

The pilot is a limited research prototype that helps an authenticated Pinterest account owner organize inspiration the account owner intentionally saved, distinguish whole-room inspiration from element-specific saves, group design characteristics, and receive a temporary draft description of their taste.

The pilot is not endorsed by, sponsored by, or affiliated with Pinterest.

Authorization and access

The pilot accesses a Pinterest account only after the account owner completes Pinterest’s authorization process.

The pilot uses the official Pinterest API and requests only the approved read-only permissions needed to read the account owner’s selected private boards and Pins.

The pilot does not:

• request or collect a Pinterest password;
• request or collect Pinterest session cookies;
• scrape Pinterest pages;
• use browser automation to extract Pinterest information;
• create, modify, save, or delete Pins or boards;
• access another person’s account without that person’s authorization; or
• request advertising, catalog, publishing, or other unrelated permissions.

Information processed during a live session

For the board selected by the authenticated account owner, the pilot may temporarily process:

• board and Pin identifiers;
• Pin images and image URLs;
• board names, sections, titles, descriptions, privacy state, and related metadata supplied by the Pinterest API;
• API responses required to retrieve the selected board and Pins; and
• limited account information required to confirm the authorized account.

The pilot uses this information only to provide the requested board analysis to the account owner from whose account the information came.

Local processing

Pin images are processed locally on the account owner’s computer using a local inference model.

Pinterest information is not transmitted to OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI, or another third-party AI or remote inference provider.

Temporary image files may exist inside an isolated local session while an image is actively being analyzed. Each temporary image is deleted after processing. The entire temporary session is removed when the analysis finishes, fails, or is canceled.

No live Pinterest retention

BuildForge does not retain information accessed through the Pinterest API after the active analysis session ends.

This includes:

• Pin images;
• image URLs;
• API responses;
• board and Pin identifiers;
• usernames or account identifiers;
• board names, Pin titles, descriptions, and related metadata;
• caches or logs containing Pinterest information;
• observations generated from live Pinterest images;
• live taste-analysis results;
• aggregate measurements derived from the live board;
• founder corrections to a live analysis; and
• exports or review files derived from the live Pinterest session.

Live Pinterest information and live-derived results are not added to a database, retrieval system, vector store, reusable benchmark, evaluation corpus, training dataset, or long-term project record.

The pilot calls the Pinterest API again whenever authorized Pinterest information is needed for a new session.

Account-owner-only results

A live Pinterest analysis is displayed only to the authenticated account owner from whose account the information was obtained.

Live Pinterest information and live-derived results are not shared with another founder, collaborator, client, tester, advertiser, data broker, or third party.

BuildForge may separately collaborate on fictional or synthetic test cases that contain no Pinterest information and are not derived from a live Pinterest account.

Artificial intelligence restrictions

Pinterest Materials and information accessed through the Pinterest API are used only for temporary inference that provides the requested service to the authenticated account owner.

Pinterest Materials and live-derived results are not used to:

• train or fine-tune a model;
• develop or improve a model;
• evaluate whether a model has improved;
• optimize prompts;
• create embeddings or a retrieval corpus;
• calibrate or adapt a model;
• create a reusable benchmark or evaluation dataset; or
• compare Pinterest, its users, brands, or accounts against competitors or industry benchmarks.

Synthetic testing

BuildForge may use fictional, synthetic, or independently created test material to develop and evaluate the prototype.

Synthetic test material is explicitly separated from live Pinterest information. Synthetic test reports and founder corrections may be retained locally for up to seven days and may be reviewed by an authorized project collaborator.

Synthetic testing does not contain, reproduce, or derive from Pinterest images, API responses, account information, board identifiers, Pin identifiers, or other Pinterest Materials.

Credentials

Pinterest API credentials and authorization tokens are kept private, outside source code, public repositories, public documents, and review exports.

Credentials are used only for the authorized account and approved pilot. They are not shared with another person or used to access another person’s account.

When access is revoked or the private pilot ends, locally held authorization credentials are removed.

Revocation and deletion

The account owner may revoke the pilot’s Pinterest access through Pinterest’s account or connected-app settings. Revocation prevents future API access.

Because live Pinterest information and live-derived results are not retained after a session, BuildForge should ordinarily have no live Pinterest information to delete.

Advertising and sale

Pinterest information is not used for:

• advertising;
• audience targeting;
• sale or rental;
• data-broker services;
• marketing lists;
• platform-wide insights;
• competitor research; or
• monetization outside the service requested by the account owner.

Security

The pilot is intentionally limited to reduce collection and access. Its safeguards include:

• official Pinterest authorization;
• least-privilege, read-only permissions;
• local processing;
• account-owner-only live results;
• no scraping or session-cookie access;
• no persistent live Pinterest dataset;
• cleanup after success, failure, or cancellation; and
• credentials stored outside source code and public project records.

No system can be guaranteed completely secure. BuildForge will stop the pilot and investigate if it discovers unauthorized access or an unexpected retention failure.

Children

The Pinterest pilot is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated if the pilot’s access, processing, retention, or sharing practices change.

The effective date will be revised when a material change is made. Any broader live Pinterest use requires a new internal approval and an updated public policy before implementation.
